Rules
and Regulations (For competitive walkers only)

For purposes of age classification, competitors participating
in Junior categories must be below 20 years old as at 31-Dec-06.
Men participating in Veteran categories, must be 40 years or above,
while women must be 35 years or above as at 21-May-2006.

For team events, 3 or 4 persons can form a team without affecting
their status in the individual event. For scoring, the best 3
out of 4 within the team will score points for the team.
- Participants
for the team event must be in the same category and can represent
ONE TEAM ONLY.

The route for all competitive categories is 10km. The cut-off
time for the competition is 1hour and 30minutes for all categories
and applies to both individual as well as team events.
The School Challenge is incorporated under the Junior Category,
but school teams will be judged separately.

All fees ($5 per person) must be paid in cash at our registration
centres.
- All
participants are bound by the following:
- When taking each step, the advancing foot of the walker
must make contact with the ground before the rear foot leaves
the ground.
- The supporting leg must be straightened, i.e. not bent at
the knee for at least one moment when in the vertical upright
position.
- Competitors spotted by any judge when their mode of progress
fails to comply with the definition of race walking will be
disqualified. A walker can be disqualified from the race without
being personally cautioned by a walk judge.

The Chief Judge, on receipt of the red card from any judge,
will disqualify the competitor either during the competition
or after the competition is completed.
- The judges' decision is final.
- Protest - Any protest shall be in writing, signed by a responsible
official on behalf of the athlete and shall be accompanied by
a deposit of S$140.00, which will be forfeited if protest is not
upheld.
