1Q: Do I have to pay to walk?
A: Yes, you have to pay $4 to participate as a Fun Walker and $5 as a Competitive Walker.

Every participant gets a T-shirt, number tag, discount coupon booklet, goodie bag and a chance to win great prizes in the Grand Lucky Draw. Prizes include a Nissan Sylphy 2.0, AIBI exercise equipment, Motorola cell phones, Nikon cameras and Timex watches

FUN WALKERS can register from:

COMPETITIVE WALKERS can register from:

  • Singapore Athletic Association,

Opening hours:
9am to 6 pm (Mon to Fri)
Closed on Saturdays, Sundays and public holidays

April 1 to May 14 at:

  • Suntec City Mall (Happy Kidz, Tropics Level 3)

Opening hours:
12noon to 8pm (Mon to Fri)
11am to 9pm (Sat, Sun & public holidays)



3Q: Can I register online?
A: Successful online registrants will receive an email confirmation to collect number tags, T-shirts and coupon booklets from News Centre at 1000 Toa Payoh North by 16 May. For details, please click here.


4Q: I have registered online. Can arrangement be made for me to collect my number tag, t-shirt and coupon booklet from another place other than News Centre?
A: Sorry, for control purposes, all internet registrants have to collect their items from News Centre.


5Q: Any difference for group registration? Any discounts?
A:

Group registrations are most welcome. You can register at any registration centre listed.

There will not be any discounts ($4 for Fun Walkers and $5 for Competitive Walkers). However, if you want to register as a group of more than 50, please e-mail us at bigwalk@sph.com.sg by May 5. We will make special arrangements for your registration at a location and time (office hours) convenient to you. Payment is by cash.



6Q: When is the closing date for registration?
A:

The last day for online registration is May 8. For registration centres, it's May 14.



7Q: What is the top prize at this year's Lucky Draw?
A: The first prize for this year's draw is a Nissan Sylphy 2.0 car (without COE and insurance).


8Q: What must I do to qualify for the Lucky Draw?
A: Register by May 14 and you will automatically qualify. Do remember to bring your number tag on the day of the walk as it will be the only proof of identification.

Your Lucky Draw coupon will be retained by the counter staff during registration.


9Q: What time is the Lucky Draw?
A: The draw should commence sometime between 10.00am and 11.00am. There will be performances and side activities before the draw starts.

Winners of the top five prizes must be present during the Lucky Draw on the day of the Big Walk. And if they are attired in the Big Walk 2006 T-shirt, they will be rewarded with additional prizes from Motorola..


10Q: What's in the goodie bag and coupon booklet?
A: The goodie bag contains a collection of attractive products courtesy of our sponsors.

The coupon booklet is full of money-saving special offers from our sponsors. The Big Walk 2006 T-shirt and coupon booklet will be given out at time of registration.


11Q: How long is the Big Walk route?
A: It is 10km for both Fun and Competitive Walkers.

The route map is available on this website.It is not compulsory for Fun Walkers to complete the entire route.


12Q: How do I get to the stadium?
A:

There will be free shuttle services on May 21 from 6.15am to 7.15am. Pick-up points are at the following MRT stations:

  • City Hall (St Andrew's Road, opposite the Padang)
  • Dhoby Ghaut (the bus stop next to Plaza Singapura, Orchard Road)


13Q: What is the frequency of the shuttle bus service and where is the drop-off point?
A: It will be about 15 minutes, depending on traffic situation. Before 7am, drop-off point is near the overhead bridge along Nicoll Highway, behind People's Association. After 7am, drop-off point is near Gyelang Lorong 1.


14Q: What are the road closure hours and if I arrive late, how can I get into the National Stadium?
A: The road closure is from 6.30am to 11am. If you arrive late and you are driving, you can park at the Old Kallang Airport lots, or any nearby lots, and walk to the Stadium. If you are not driving, you can take the MRT to Kallang MRT station and walk to the stadium.


15Q: If I want to bring young children or babies to the Big Walk, do I need to register them? Can I bring a pram?
A: There is no age limit, so you can register your children for the Big Walk. You can also bring a pram to the walk.


16Q: Can I bring my pets to the Big Walk?
A: A: We do not encourage pets. If you must bring, do observe the relevant law and ensure that your pet do not pose a danger to others. Do also ensure that it is adequately protected from the heat.


17Q: What sort of attire is appropriate for the Big Walk?
A: You are encouraged to wear the Big Walk 2006 T-shirt provided and comfortable shorts and footwear. A good pair of shoes that can withstand walking long distances is highly recommended and drink enough water.


18Q: Will safety pins be supplied on walk day?
A: Sorry, you would need to provide your own safety pins.


19Q: I have lost my number tag. Can I get it replaced?
A: Sorry, lost tag cannot be replaced. We suggest that you register again so that you will have a chance at the lucky draw prizes.


20Q: Can I use rollerblades or cycle?
A: No. This is a walk event. No wheels allowed.


21Q: What if I fall sick on the day of the Big Walk?
A: A: You are advised to see a doctor and stay at home.
